Getting Care When You Need It

Taking care of your health should feel simple. Here is how to get the right care, right when you need it.

Type of Care Example How to Access
Start with your Primary Care Physician (PCP) Your PCP is your main doctor for everyday health needs. They can help with common problems, checkups, shots, and wellness visits. They can also coordinate your care and refer you to specialists.
  • Call your PCP’s phone number on your member ID card.
When You Need Urgent Care Receive same-day care from doctors, even after hours and weekends.

If you are sick or hurt and cannot wait for a regular appointment, urgent care centers can help. They treat things like sprains, minor cuts, fevers, and infections.

For Emergencies If you have a life-threatening condition or injuries, such as trauma, stroke, or heart attack.
  • Dial 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room
Care From Home Nurse Advice Line: You can call for free to talk to a registered nurse anytime. They can tell you how to care for minor illnesses or injuries at home and help you decide if you should go to the emergency room or urgent care, or if you should schedule a doctor’s visit.

Teladoc: Talk to a doctor by phone or video when your PCP is not available. They can treat non‑emergency medical issues and may prescribe medicine.Always call your regular doctor first. Teladoc should be used only when your doctor is not available.

You can also call the Alliance Nurse Advice Line toll-free at 1.888.433.1876 if you are not sure you need this type of urgent care, emergency services, or self-care at home.
